Should the Jets Take The “Next Darrelle Revis” At Four?

With new play maker, Tyreek Hill, going to the Miami Dolphins over the Jets, it really does create stress, having to play against players of his skills-set twice a year. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’d love to have another Darrelle Revis, but I believe Edge will be the pick at four.

Now, at ten, I’m all for it! But gambling on a CB, at four, is risky!

While Sauce Gardner is great, I don’t think he will be with the Jets next year. The reason is that Gardner has never allowed a touchdown in his career as a Cincinnati Bearcat! Due to that, I believe, Gardner could be taken in the top ten. The only issue is, if we want him, we have to take him at four. Do the Jets value Corner, as a premium pick such as four?

Everything the Jets are trying to replicate from San Francisco, starts with the trenches, so Offensive Line and Defensive Line. What could we possibly need on the Defensive Line? Edge! Something the Jets have been lacking for a long time is players like Thibodeaux, George Karlaftis, Jermaine Johnson, and Travon Walker. All of these players could fit the mold of what NY is trying to create! If you don’t create pressure on the QB, CB won’t help, because QBs will have all the time in the world to find someone creating separation, get to the QB, and stop the play before it even develops. Why take a risk on someone who could, and probably will, have rookie struggles on year one?

I enjoy Sauce Gardner as a player, but I don’t think we are at a point where taking a luxury pick at four would be as beneficial as taking an Edge would. I think he does have tremendous talent, with the height, length, speed and vertical giving him great radius to pinpoint and make a play on the ball/receiver. IF he falls to pick ten, that will be a different story.
