With recent moves in the NFL, it does not seem like the New York Jets will keep both Top Ten picks.
Now, a lot can be said about what they plan to do, or what we fans think they will do, but previous moves and actions have hinted at the direction they might follow. Previously, they focused in on Tyreek Hill and other WRs, and they investigated Von Miller, but nothing went far with trade talks with Von. So based on previous moves and rumors, they value Edge and WR. Douglas also said something in a previous interview, leading us to believe this plan is set in stone, “Look, I mean, in my eyes, I know coach believes this too, if you want to take a 30-million-dollar Wide Receiver off the field, you hit the Quarter Back, hit ‘em, hit ‘em often”
They Have A Plan, But How Will They Act?
Keep all picks in the first and second round?
Trade both seconds to get a WR?
Trade both seconds to get back into the first?
Trade pick ten for a WR?
Trade pick ten to get more picks, and pick later?
Trade #4 back and get a haul, and gain a lot more picks, and possibly trade back into the first?
Here Are Some Trades That I Think Are Realistic!
Option 1: NYJ trade pick #4 and a third-round pick …..
to Saints for pick #16and #19.
This would be great for NY because we could get our Edge, WR, and other skilled positions early and the Saints could take a QB. Any trade that has the Jets trading back for a QB-needy team could be a haul.
Option 2: NYJ trade #4 and a fourth-round pick …..
to Seattle for pick #9 and DK Metcalf.
The Jets have been rumored to be eyeing DK for a while, and could very well still make a trade if Seattle dares to trade with NY again.
Option 3: NYJ trade #35 and #38….
to Tennessee Titans for AJ Brown.
I love this, but, I do not see Brown leaving unless something goes wrong. The Twitter text could just be him wanting the Titans to up their offer.
Option 4: NYJ trade #4 ……
to Pittsburg for pick #20, a 2023 #1, and Chase Claypool.
This makes sense, because NY needs a WR, and they would gain a first out of it, and yet could still draft at #20. Pittsburgh needs a QB!
If NY Targets A Falling Player!
Option 5: NYJ trades #35 and #69 …..
to Green Bay for pick #22.
This could also happen if NY finds someone falling, and they could act quickly.
Option 6: NYJ trade #10…..
to KC for picks #29, #30, and #62.
This would be a big move and could be a “rebuilding year- one situation”. The end of the first and second rounds is where hidden gems and late-round sleepers will go. The talent in the second is extremely high!
Last Thoughts
Trading is not a crazy thought when you realize the value you could get. My favorite trade is option six, because the value and talent you could get for three players vs the one at #10 are crazy! You could also trade your second-round pick and KC’s pick #62 to get back into the first round to pick again if you value a falling player.
For anything and anyone, don’t disregard GM Joe Douglas’s ability to take advantage of any situation involving a trade. I believe for the right price and the right player there will never be a situation where Douglas doesn’t play with the thought. His phone is always near him, and he’s always envisioning perspective situations. I came up with some realistic trades, but these are not all of them. Maybe Thursday night we will see a new one?
